Introduction
Understanding the compensation plan is one thing. Knowing how to put it into action is another.
As a TC Direct Business Builder, your personal business activity forms the foundation of your journey. Before you think about building a large team or reaching higher business levels, you need to understand what you can do personally to keep your business active and create opportunities to earn.
Your business activity can include:
● Purchasing products for your own use
● Selling products to customers
● Introducing new customers to TC Direct
● Sharing products and opportunities with people around you
● Recruiting and supporting new Business Builders
● Using your available marketing platforms consistently
The first question to ask yourself is:
“What am I already buying every month that I could buy through my own business?”
Start With What You Already Buy
You don't necessarily need to find completely new things to sell.
Think about your normal month-end grocery shopping.
You probably already buy things such as:
● Cleaning detergents
● Washing powder
● Fabric conditioner
● Liquid dishwashing products
● Breakfast products
● Oats
● Milk
● Jam
● Honey
● Juices
● Beauty soap
● Toiletries
● Personal-care products
● And many of the everyday items that normally go into your grocery basket.
TC Direct has products across several categories that can fit into many of these everyday purchasing needs.
Here's the opportunity:
Instead of thinking:
“What can I buy that I don't need?”
start thinking:
“What am I already buying that I could purchase through my TC Direct business?”
This is an important shift in mindset.
Turn Your Everyday Spending Into Business Activity
If you are already spending money on products every month, you can consider whether some of those purchases could be made through TC Direct.
For a Business Builder working toward the R1,250 minimum qualifying purchase, everyday products can make the target feel more achievable because you're not necessarily buying products simply to reach a number.
You're purchasing products that you and your household can actually use.
Think about your monthly basket:
What do I normally buy?
● Cleaning
● Breakfast
● Personal Care
● Toiletries
● Beverages
● Beauty
● Household products
Now ask:
Which of these products are available through TC Direct?
Why Not Switch?
If you are going to buy these products anyway, you can consider switching some of your regular purchases to TC Direct.
For example:
Instead of buying your usual washing powder elsewhere → consider a TC Direct washing product.
Instead of buying your usual cleaning products elsewhere → consider TC Direct cleaning products.
Instead of buying your usual personal-care products elsewhere → consider TC Direct alternatives.
The idea is not to buy things you don't need.
The goal is to make your business activity more intentional by purchasing products you genuinely need and can use.
Work Toward the R1,250 Minimum
As you learned in Lesson 1, the current minimum qualifying purchase is R1,250 at wholesale price.
If you are already purchasing household and everyday products every month, you can look at your normal spending and decide whether TC Direct can become part of your regular shopping routine.
Ask yourself:
What do I normally spend every month?

Which products could I switch to TC Direct?
How much could those purchases contribute toward my R1,250 target?

This makes the target something you can plan for, rather than something that feels impossible.
But Don't Stop at Personal Purchasing
This is where the business part comes in.
Your personal purchasing can be one part of your business activity, but you can also:
🛍️ BUY
Purchase products you genuinely need and use.
💬 SHARE
Tell others about products you have discovered.
🛒 SELL
Help customers get products they need.
👥 RECRUIT
Introduce people who are interested in building their own TC Direct business.
🤝 SUPPORT
Help your Business Builders learn and become active.
This is where your personal activity can develop into business-building activity.
What About the Cashback?
This is where your compensation plan becomes interesting.
If you purchase qualifying products through TC Direct, you may qualify for Sales Cashback, according to the applicable compensation-plan requirements.
As covered in Lesson 1, the Business Builder Sales Cashback structure currently ranges from:
3% → 4% → 5% → 6%
depending on the qualifying wholesale purchase amount.
So you can ask yourself:
“If I'm already going to spend money on everyday products, why not consider purchasing some of them through my TC Direct business and work toward my qualifying target?”
And then take it one step further:
“Why not purchase, sell and introduce others?”
That is the difference between simply being a customer and actively developing a business.
The Business Builder Mindset
There is an important distinction:
Customer mindset
“I buy products because I need them.”
Business Builder mindset
“I buy products I genuinely need, learn about them, share them with others, sell where appropriate, and introduce people who may want to build their own business.”
You are not required to choose between using products and building a business.
You can potentially do both.
Don't Buy Just to Chase a Percentage
This is an important message I strongly recommend including.
The purpose of the compensation plan should not be to encourage Business Builders to purchase products they don't need simply to reach a target.
Instead:
Buy products that you genuinely need, understand what you're buying, use them where appropriate, and build your business around real customer needs.
This makes your business more sustainable and keeps your product recommendations genuine.
Your Personal Experience Can Become Your Best Marketing Tool
If you actually use a product, you have something valuable that a memorised sales pitch cannot provide: personal experience.
Instead of saying:
“This is an amazing product. You should buy it.”
you can talk about:
● Why you chose it
● What you use it for
● What you like about it
● How it fits into your routine
● Who you think might find it useful
Remember:
People connect with genuine experiences more easily than with a memorised sales pitch.
This connects directly with what you learned in Module 2: Products.
From Personal Activity to Team Activity
Once you understand your own business activity, you can begin helping others do the same.
Imagine you introduce one person to TC Direct.
Instead of simply telling them:
“Join my business.”
help them understand:
What do you already buy?
↓
Which TC Direct products interest you?
↓
What could you genuinely use?
↓
What could you share with customers?
↓
How can you build your own business?
This is how you begin developing Business Builders, rather than simply collecting recruits.
And remember from Lesson 1:
Team Cashback requires qualifying active Business Builders.
So building a team isn't simply about how many people you sign up. Activity matters.
Your Personal Business Activity Plan
Take a few minutes to complete this exercise.
1. My Everyday Purchases
List five things you regularly buy:
2. My TC Direct Opportunities
Which of these could potentially be purchased through TC Direct?
3. My Personal Target
My qualifying target:
R1,250
How can I work toward this through products I genuinely need?
4. My Customer Activity
Who could benefit from the products I am learning about?
5. My Business-Building Activity
Who could be interested in building their own TC Direct business?
The Big Lesson
Your compensation plan isn't something that exists separately from your everyday business.
It connects to what you do.
Purchase → Learn → Use → Share → Sell → Introduce → Support
The more you understand your own activity, the easier it becomes to understand the compensation plan.
Start with what you already know and what you already need. Then turn your knowledge, relationships and consistent activity into business opportunities.
Coming Next
In the next lesson, we'll look at your first level and what it means to begin building a team of active Business Builders.
